Yeaaaa so this might go under that NSFW category maybe. You wouldn't want to watch this with your boss, or your mother, or probably anyone for that matter. Watch it alone in the comfort of your own room, shrieking with laughter and grimacing with the deeply unsettling horror that is human biology. Or rather human biology in a very fucked up version of Sesame Street.



Anyway the important part is that the track is, indeed legitimately awesome. That klaxon of a synth lead is amazingly strong and makes the breakdowns feel really good. Can't wait to spin this one. In the proverbial sense, of course, since the only thing spinning will be my hard drive. GET IT, HARD DRIVE?

I seriously want the future to be robots, and not the ones that clean floors. I want these ones, that serve you coffee without spilling a drop and then go on psychotic robo-breakdancing rampages in the street. And I want them NOW.



Also, I totally love that sample. H/t to Discobelle for pointing out its original source: Ini Kamoze’s classic 1984 hit “World-A-Music”. It's probably the most used and definitely the best used sample in all of electronic music. And it comes from some legitimately awesome reggae. I miss Jamaica, kind of.

When I first heard it, I was more surprised by the fact that I recognized it as a sample featured on A-Trak's (more love!) Dirty South Dance 2, which came out last summer. The clip is on track 6, Whatever You Shoot.

It turns out that I'm sort of in love with Bag Raiders. They are more house-y and less dubstep-py which is a little like a colon cleanse of the musical sort. Now that I've put that image in your head, listen to this happy Sunshine-y tune!

Flight Facilities' Disco set could also be called an "exposé". It identifies every awesome beat that's been laid down in the last 10 years... as having actually been laid down >30 years ago.

And also, it's awesome. I really, really love these guys. And their sweet aviator hat, emblem, and float plane. Or photoshop skills, whichever it is. They're responsible for one of my favorite tracks: Crave You (although my favorite is Go Go Bizkitt!'s remix thereof).

I first saw Showbeast at the 2 EVERYTHING 2 TERRIBLE 2: TOKYO DRIFT found film montage apocalypse show. I should note that I'm note plugging everythingisterrible because of my FUCKING PRETENTIOUS nature, but because if you don't spend at least half of each day watching their videos then you're pretty much wasting your life. ANYWHO, Showbeast was/is awesome, and they should do music videos for everyone. Apparently, they've already started on that.

Also, I need a magic 8ball like that!

I don't know about you folks, but nothing gets my otherwise stagnant Monday blood flowing like some French house. Surprisingly, my two favorite purveyors of contemporary french house are both not Daft Punk or Justice and not even French at that. Go Go Bizkitt! hails from Scotland, and Moonchild lives down under. But what unites them is a taste for sweet bass grooves with gorgeous filters laid over everything to give it that Fresh and Funky feeling. It is a well known science fact that such beats, when pulled though lowpass filters on a low frequency oscillation pattern, make people want to screw each others brains out. So be careful playing this stuff at work.

While these tunes may not fit as perfectly into the narrative of a Leiji Matsumoto anime feature, they are indeed awesome and quite reminiscent of the things that we liked about Homework and Discovery (but weren't really there in Human After All and such). And they're fun. I like 'em.

BASHMENT??????

I'd never even heard about this thing called "bashment" before DJ FUCKING PRETENTIOUS posted that crazy Jamaican (is that even a country? I just thought it was a weed dispensery) mixtape. I don't know what that means, other than that I could totally be about this happening. So I took time out of my crippingly busy day at my totally awesome job of precision cutting and pasting ads onto cell phone websites to dig up another mixtape from one of my TOP SECRET musics sources (blorgs like ours except without the eyevomit-inducing design).

To ease myself into this whole weird Jamaican music dance thing this first track is a really, really sweet remix of a song anyone worth their mettle should know. If you don't know it we are no longer friends.
