WHO NEEDS GENRES, ANYWAY?

Well this is something new. DJ Javier Estrada puts out some extremely novel tunes (Mad Decent accurately calls them "genre defying"), mixing up crunk, dubstep, moombahton, and Mexican beats. While you're wrapping your head around that, just listen to these tracks from his new mix:
1- DJ Javier Estrada - A Ritmo de Crunk by shdowling
6- Lorna - Papi Chulo Remix - Javier Estrada Remix by shdowling

You either loved those tracks or absolutely hated them, and if you're in the former camp you need to download the whole Ritmos del Mundo 3 mixtape right. now. It is the only thing that will save you from your awful Monday return to the office. Every track will surprise you. AND OH YEAH, THERE'S A MORTAL KOMBAT SAMPLE IN IT. Check out his Soundcloud page if you want more.

It should also be said that we are way overdue for a post on moombahton. This is blowing up as fast as dubstep did last year and I really, really hope it won't turn into brombahton as quickly as Rusko's beats turned into brostep. Dear God I hope not. More on this later!

ZELDA: A LINK TO THE CLUB

Since this week is INTERNATIONAL VIDEO GAME CLUB REMIX WEEK (ok, it actually isn't, but really every week should be), I am going to follow up Helen's last post with one in a similar genre: ZELDA.

PS. There's a better copy HERE.

THE HELENATOR is hijacking this post to share what is by far the best remix album of the OoT soundtrack:
The Clipse - Lost Woods remix is particularly fantastic. I filled three heart containers just listening to it.

NOTHING SAYS "I LOVE YOU" LIKE THE BASS DROP OF A SHITTY DUBSTEP TRACK

Seriously, before you get out those big yellow rubber gloves for whatever kinky shit you've got planned tonight, make sure you hit play on this mixtape. It was specifically designed by the LUV SCIENTISTS at Mad Decent (i.e., Dirty South Joe and Flufftronix) to induce sexy behavior in humans and probably some other kinds of organisms as well. Just imagine, hundreds of millions of bacteria fucking on your skin. Except that they don't really fuck, they divide. And they do that regardless of what music's playing. But just think about that. And then get it on, or something. Why? Listen to this line from the artists themselves:

"Luvstep 2 is the sound of electronic gruv glide inside lazer guided lullabies."

I don't even know that means. But you know who does? FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT. What a fucking love machine.

Violence erupts in Scandinavia

This is what happens when your country has no sunlight for half the year: awesome electro videos.

FIRST NPR, NOW THIS BULLSHIT?

Dubstep has officially jumped the shark. It's up. It's over. This is both good and bad -- we'll hear a lot more of it, but a lot of it will be shitty. And guess who's ushering this in?

Britney motherfuckin' Spears. Part club banger, part... dubstep. Right in the middle. Snuck in. IT'S THERE AND DON'T THINK WE WOULDN'T NOTICE.

Also I might like this. Just a little bit. Please don't tell Skrillex.
